Hey there, I'm Ace.
I'm an Architect.
After 10 + years of practice, I founded Wayside in order to improve the way people get to and through building projects. There's a lot of work to do but first we ought to know who we're working with and how they work. One thing I've learned is if you want to predict how people will act, find out what they believe.
On Clients
People want projects, not drama.
Whether you're a project Owner or a decision-maker at a design firm, the focus is always people (who), projects (what), and process (how). Turning abstract priorities into realized results is what separates promises from products. Implementation isn't easy and my industry hasn't performed well lately.
What's the rub? Perhaps building collegiate Architecture programs around Ayn Rand's fantasies hasn't worked out? Consider, according to NCARB, approx 4,000 people will finalize the profession's licensing requirements while 8,000 will have graduated annually. Basically, 1 out of 2 kids aren't practicing the promise. Being overpromised and under-provoked early on is one of the culprits. Waves of entitlement and false confidence from academia reduces approachability and increases propensity for drama. Drama occurs when bad ideas generate panic, which draws a crowd, which then distracts from purpose. If Clients wanted an emotional wreck they'd have found a politician, not an Architect. Diplomacy, flexibility, objectivity, practicality; all overdue values Clients require and Architects need a reminder to deliver.
On Money
Talk about it.
How you spend your money is your choice because it's your project. Our role is to guide you through the process of why, when, and how much. Project capital can come from unlimited sources. However it's obtained, how far will it go? Do you know? If not, we can help.
Estimating projects is both a science and an art. We understand limited budgets and how they are reduced, more often than not, for practical reasons. In the end, Clients want results, relationships, assurances, and all at a reasonable price. You didn't hire a professional to waste your money and I didn't start Wayside to waste my time. A transparent process, updated project budgets, and brutally honest conversation prevents both.
On Handoff
Seeing is getting.
With Wayside, you're getting personalized, collaborative services. Things get personal because there won't be a hand off half-way through the project where the person that promised the job doesn't end up performing the job. It's collaborative because we know and use the most efficient tools and process the internet has to offer and we do it in a way that simplifies, not contorts. We're quite aware of the disaster zone that is the internet, apps, and accounts. We know what's out there so you don't have to.
We keep it simple. What you see is what you get. What you get are licensed professionals using honesty and technology as their primary tools to make your project or process thrive.
On Mission
Stay focused.
The goal is to make design work for people and do so with an expert level of understanding of the most efficient tools in the industry. We're bringing the most efficient, flexible, and collaborative tools on the market to the realm of smaller, personal projects. We offer the most collaborative, refined services to adventurous Clients with safe, practical, and affordable solutions.
Wayside was founded to serve individuals and groups that have vision and goals but need help getting there and reaching them, respectively.
